Shawnee Mountain Ski Area

We’re here for a few days of full-day kids programs, and the experience has been excellent. The instructors and staff are all incredibly kind, patient, and supportive. The are so many instructors and they teach kids based on their individual skill levels, my eldest was able to ski black diamonds multiple times and practice parallel skiing with poles. This is quite different from other ski fields, where kids programs are usually limited to green runs (and sometimes blue runs). There’s also plenty of seating in the cafeteria, along with Wi-Fi and charging ports, making it easy to work or read if you don’t want to ski.

Love this mountain, it feels like coming back home. The snow team does an awesome job grooming and prepping the slopes. The ski patrol team will take great care of you if the need arises, as a close friend found out. Tried tubing for the first time here this, and we had a blast. The guys at the top pushing the tubes were super friendly, and they let you choose the type of ride you wanted (fast/slow spin, backwards or forward). We look forward to going skiing and tubing again.

Love Shawnee. It's not as big as some of the other mountains in the area, but it's the perfect size for me and the kids with ample parking and no long lift lines. We always make a point of visiting the mac and cheese food truck. The lodge at the top of the mountain was closed this year on President's Day for some reason. Hope that's not permanent.

Small mountain but perfect for learning. Both my girls are double blacks in skiing, but wanted to learn snowboarding. This mountain was perfect for days trips from New York to learn new skills.

First time here and first time snowboarding. Had a blast with my friends. Since I’m new to snowboarding I stayed at the bunny hill practicing and once I got tired I headed to the bar. The staff were super nice and gave me pointers/tips on snowboarding. I had an amazing time and will definitely be back!

Wonderful experience overall. Renting equipment was easy and quick. Lift lines were short most of the day, got so many runs in!! Kids had a blast!

Shawnee is a great spot for a full ski day. The multiple lifts give you easy access across the entire mountain with minimal wait times. The lodge is cozy and perfect for relaxing by the big fireplace, and the food options are a nice touch; everything from quick cafeteria meals to a sports bar and sit-down dining. A really enjoyable experience overall.

Shawnee Ski Resort in the Poconos was such a wonderful experience for our family. From the moment we arrived, the staff were absolutely amazing, especially at the snow tubing area super patient with us arriving at closing time lol and the staff with helping us get all the ski rental equipment. Everyone was friendly, patient, and so helpful, which made the whole day stress free and enjoyable. A huge highlight was my son’s ski lesson. His coach, a lovely woman whose name I wish I remembered, was incredible with him. The one-on-one lesson was truly the best decision, especially since it was his first time skiing. She was patient, encouraging, and made him feel confident on the slopes. He learned so much and still talks about that lesson, so a big shout-out and thank you to her for making it such a special memory. The resort itself is beautiful, though it was super cold as expected in the mountains! Even on a weekday it had a nice lively energy, but everything was well organized. If you’re going with kids, definitely bundle them up extra warm so they can fully enjoy the day. Inside, they have a really nice lounge area where you can relax, grab food, snacks, or drinks. The huge fireplace in the middle was one of my favorite parts ,such a cozy spot to sit, warm up, and just take in the moment while the kids recharge. Parking was another big plus plenty of spaces and completely free, which makes the visit so much easier. If you’re planning to go on a weekend, I’d highly recommend booking any ski or snowboard lessons online ahead of time so you’re all set and don’t waste time waiting. Shawnee Ski Resort was fantastic ,great staff, great atmosphere, and an unforgettable first ski experience for my son. We’ll definitely be back!
